3rd Party Software & Drivers

Pixelink cameras can be controlled by a variety of third-party applications, including:

  • IIDC 1.3 or later compliant applications (FireWire Cameras ONLY)

  • DirectShow/DirectX-based applications (note: DirectShow/DirectX access is limited - USB and FireWire Cameras Only)

  • Applications that support TWAIN

  • Custom applications created using the Pixelink Camera API (Version 4)

  • GigE Vision, GEV, GENICAM (GigE Cameras)

    • Note: Our USB3 cameras are GenICam compliant, as they contain a GenICam XML file that tells GenICam applications how to access GenICam defined features. We do not, however, have a GenTL producer for our cameras.

  • USB3 Vision Applications (USB3 Cameras only)

  • Matlab - PL-B, PL-D and PL-E cameras can be used with Matlab, after installing the Matlab Adaptor.

  • Labview - PL-B cameras can be used with LabView after installing the LabView Wrapper. PL-D cameras can be used either as U3V devices, or by installing the Labview wrapper.

  • Halcon

In general, PL-D cameras can be used with third party applications that support TWAIN, U3V or DirectShow. For further questions about third party software compatibility, please contact Pixelink Support
