The GenICam GenTL standard is a framework built by the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA) to provide a generic way to access, control and stream data from cameras, independent from the underlying technology.
Machine vision software and libraries that are designed to communicate with cameras using this standard are referred to as a GenTL Consumers. A GenTL Producer is the software that allows specific camera hardware to be accessed by GenTL Consumers.
More information on GenICam and the GenTL standards is available on the EMVA website:

The Pixelink GenTL Producer is a GenTL compliant producer, that enables you to operate Pixelink cameras with third-party machine vision applications that support the GenTL standard.
The Pixelink GenTL Producer is designed for use with our PL-D and PL-X line of cameras.
Please Note:
Pixelink Capture or Pixelink SDK must be installed before using your camera with Pixelink GenTL Producer, in order to install the drivers for the camera.
Installing the Pixelink GenTL Producer:
Download the Pixelink GenTL Producer, and unzip the contents of the zip file.
Create environment path variables to the 32-bit and 64-bit GenTL producers, if they have not already been created.
To create this path, go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Advanced and click on "Environment Variables..."
In the Environment Variables window, Create two new System Variables : GENICAM_GENTL32_PATH and GENICAM_GENTL64_PATH
Set value of the paths to the folders containing the 32-bit and 64-bit Pixelink GenTL producers on your system (TLpixelink32.cti and TLpixelink64.cti)
Copy "SphinxLib.dll" found in "SphinxLib 64-bit" to C:\Windows\System32
Copy "SphinxLib.dll" found in "SphinxLib 32-bit" to C:\Windows\SysWOW64
The Pixelink GenTL producer should now be ready to use.
