You enter this mode simply by running the application without any command line parameters; this program will then scan your network for Pixelink cameras.  The program will then present a dialog showing IP configuration information on one of the cameras connected to your network.  The dialog is as follows:

The Camera group of the dialog, shows information pertinent to a particular networked Pixelink camera found on the network.  You can use the MAC drop down list to select other networked Pixelink cameras.  The Network Interface Card group shows information pertinent to the NIC from which the selected camera is subtended.  The following sections outline the meaning/use of each of the fields within the dialog.

Camera Fields

Mac:

This is a drop down list showing the Media Access Control (MAC), or ‘network’, address assigned to the camera at time of manufacture.  You can use this control to select a specific networked Pixelink camera.  Once selected, all of the other information in the Camera group, and to a lesser extent, the Network Interface Card group, is centric to this camera.

Selecting a camera using this dialog, may take a few seconds.

Serial Number:

The serial number of the selected camera.  Note that this filed will appear blank if the tool cannot read the serial number of the camera.  The most common reasons for this would be that the camera is not on the same subnet as the NIC, or the NIC is not using a supported driver type.

IP Engine Version:

This is the version of the Pleora Technologies IP Engine within the Pixelink camera.

IP Configuration:

  • IP Address - The IP address being used by the camera.

  • IP Subnet Mask - The IP Subnet Mask being used by the camera.

  • Default Gateway - The default gateway used by the camera.

  • Update Button - This control is enabled once you edit any of the IP configuration for the camera (any of the above parameters). Pressing this button will 'commit' the IP configuration to the camera.

  • Persistent Checkbox - This control can only be activated if the selected camera supports persistent static IP address assignment. Pressing the Update button with Persistent checked, will not only commit the IP configuration to the camera, but the camera will continue to use this particular IP configuration across power cycles of the camera. Pressing the Update button with Persistent Not checked, means that the camera will revert to dynamic IP address assignment on the next power cycle.

You should not check the Persistent box if you are using dynamic address assignment on your network.

Network Interface Card Fields

All of the fields within this group pertain to the Network Interface Card (NIC) from which the selected camera (as identified by the MAC field of the Camera group) is subtended.

Mac:

The MAC address assigned to the NIC at time of manufacture.

Name:

The name of the Network Interface Card.

IP Configuration:

  • IP Address - The IP address being used by the NIC.

  • IP Subnet Mask - The IP subnet mask being used by the NIC.

  • Default Gateway - The default gateway used by the NIC.

Other fields

Messages and Clear Button:

This is a scrollable window used for error, warning, and informative messages. The Clear Button can be used to clear all of the messages currently in this window.

Number Of Cameras Found:

This filed reports on the number of cameras found with the last network scan.  The tool will scan the network for cameras, every 10 seconds or so.

Help Button:
