Mac OS X provides built-in support for IIDC-compliant 1394 devices. According to some third-party sources, users wishing to ensure maximum compatibility between their Pixelink cameras and Macintosh platforms should have the following installed:
Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 or later
QuickTime X or later and the QTKit framework API
The MyRecorder sample program in the Mac OS X Reference Library illustrates using the QTKit framework API with IEEE-1394 cameras:
OpenCV 2.1
OpenCV is a free open source, cross-platform library focusing on real-time image processing. Version 2.1 of OpenCV provides a QTKit backend interface for Mac OS X.
The sample program found here illustrates using OpenCV in conjunction with the QTKit API and OpenGL to program a IEEE-1394 camera.
libdc1394 Control Library
libdc1394 is a free open source library that is intended to provide a high level programming interface for application developers who wish to control IEEE 1394 based cameras that conform to the 1394-based Digital Camera Specification. Macintosh OS X compatibility was introduced in version 2.0 of the library; refer to the libdc1394 section in SourceForge for compatibility details.

USB 3.0 Cameras
Some customers have reported using PL-D cameras on a Mac by installing Windows in a Boot Camp partition, or by using Parallels Desktop.
